DOG ROSE
The dog rose is a spontaneous rose that can be found in the woods or along the country roads of Alto Molise.
It blooms from May to July.
The berries ripen in October and November; they are red and have a fleshy consistency.
These berries are gathered at over 1400 meters above sea level in the uncontaminated and wonderful territory of Capracotta.
They are rich in vitamin C, have anti-inflammatory and toning properties and are used for the preparation of a delicious jam.
The rose hip resists the cold of the Molise high areas; it is also a shrub that is used to create almost impenetrable hedges, due to the many thorns it has along its branches.
